Be Pampered in Traverse City’s Only Micro Spa

A few weeks ago I was having an especially stressful couple of days. A friend had just been to a new little spa in the Warehouse District called At Rest Micro Spa. She said it was wonderful and suggested I go to get a facial or massage. (Now let me say that I do what I can to be presentable, but I’m not a “spa girl” by any means. In fact, the few times I have been into the typical “spa” I have felt quite out of place. Consequently, I have never experienced a professional massage or facial and have had no desire to do so.)

It took some definite prodding, but I was finally convinced to go. I am so glad I did…

Honestly? I was nervous. I was expecting to feel out of place and uncomfortable. The moment I entered At rest Micro Spa, however, those expectations dissolved. I walked into a calm, quiet, welcoming setting. I was greeted by Liz, the owner and a skin specialist. After a bit of chit-chat, she led me to a small, dimly-lit room where I readied for my first-ever facial.

I soon found myself lying on a bed surrounded by quiet music and soothing scents. Warm steam was gently pouring over my face and shoulders. The smells coming to me were from the exfoliating lotions, cleansers and moisturizers that Liz was gently and slowly working into my skin.

Within what must have been only a few minutes (your sense of time is one of the first things to go during this incredible experience), I felt my whole body entering into a relaxed state like none other. The only thought I had was wondering how much longer I would be indulged.

Unfortunately, time only stopped in my head. Once my hour was up I felt as though I had had the best sleep ever. My whole body was relaxed, yet energized. Bonus: my husband said I actually looked beautiful and energized! I truly felt refreshed and pampered. I was so glad I took my friend’s advice.
