Calculart: Mathematics As Art In A 3-D Virtual Environment January 20 – June 1, 2008 The exhibit features a 3-screened, back-projection portable virtual-reality environment called CANVAS. Created by the Beckman Institute at the University of Illinois. It allows visitors to interact and create their own imagery in planned workshops.
Grand Traverse Heritage Center 322 Sixth Street, 231-995-0313 Exhibit: Memories of the Summer Cottage May 1- Sept 30 A new exhibit featuring the photographs from the archives of local summer residences of the past. Also see a construction of an old summer cottage.
Vintage Fashion Show & Chocolate Decadence Buffet May 4 at the City opera House A fundraising event for the Grand Traverse Heritage Center, see vintage clothing that was worn during the 1800’s by Norma Wilhelm Carroll, a major figure in the history of Traverse City.
Preservation Awards Night May 15 Recognition of commercial and residential buildings and homes that have been saved, restored and preserved.
GTPHS: Trolley Tour May 18, June 15 or 22, July 20 Start at the Grand Traverse Heritage Center and ride the trolley as you tour historic neighborhoods and important places of business in the downtown region. Reservations necessary; plan 2 hours; $10 per person.

History in Motion: The Soo Locks May 31 Join us as we bus to the Soo Locks. We will visit three museums of history and have lunch at Freighters restaurant. Reservations required.
Clue: E The Haig June 20, 11am A tribute at Elmbrook Golf Course to golf legend Walter Haggen. All participants play a round of golf, scramble format, using hickory stick clubs and dressed in traditional vintage attire. Proceeds benefit the Grand Traverse Heritage Center. $125 per person or $500 per team of four. Register at the Heritage Center.
National Cherry Festival: Heritage Day July 8, 11:30am-3pm An old fashioned picnic, including favorite games from years gone by such as tug-o-war, potato sack and cherries-on-a-spoon race. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Heritage Center. Also enjoy the Grand Traverse Metis reenactment, storytelling and the Gracie L boat. $3 adults; $1 kids 12 and under.
